Willkommen

This page contains the Schönthaler Kemmner side of the Schönthaler Kling's family history. The Kling Heinz family lived in Büchenbronn and Pforzheim, in Württemberg, Germany prior to the end of the 1900. Ana Maria Kling married Ernst Schönthaler in Pforzheim, Germany in 1918 and five years later they arrived, as millions did, at Ellis Island.   Ernst Schönthaler was the son of Johann Friedrich Schönthaler and Christina Fredericka Kemmner. Johann worked for Valentine @ Son's in Poughkeepsie, New York during the 1880's and lived there with his first wife, Anna Ruscher. After her death in 1888, and the death of 3 of their 4 children, during a period of three months, it seems that Johann left New York, went back to Germany, remarried and came back. But now, with the help of a researcher in Germany we found out that he has a marriage date for Johann and Christina Fredericka occurring in Poughkeepsie, New York. Two years later he and his new wife, Friedericka Kemmner went back to Germany. They lived in Dürrn, Württemberg, Germany.  Johann died on August 25th, 1914 and Friedericka died on May 17, 1953 in Dürrn.

So far we have found that Friedericka's real name was Christina Friedericka Kemmner, the daughter of Michael Kemmner and Elisabetha Barbara Stickel from Enzberg, Württemberg, Germany. The first Kemmner found in the church books was Johann Michael Kemmner. He married Margaretha Schüz on February 9, 1792. Johann Michael was the son of Andreas Kemmner and they were originally from Ötlingen, and Württemberg, Germany. Margaretha was the daughter of Andreas Schüz and Elisabeth Stoll, both from Enzberg. Andreas was born on July 8, 1741 and was the son of Andreas, born before 1721. Elisabeth Stoll was the daughter of Georg Stoll. In the last two years I have being working with this lines with some new friends and we have being able to go back as early as mid 1500ªs.

Johann Schönthaler and Christina Friederika's only son returning to America was Ernst. His wife Anna Maria Kling and his son Kurt Wilhelm returned with him in 1923. They were passengers aboard the SS Munchen. They arrived on September 10th, 1923. Also, during the last two months I found out that Johann Friederich Schönthaler parents were Johann Christian and Johanna Susana Giraud. Johann Christian Schönthaler was born on August 4, 1821 in Ottenhausen, Württemberg, Germany and Johanna Susana was born on June 19, 1824 in Sengach, Württemberg, Germany. Her parents were from Groß Villars, Württemberg, Germany. woman with flowers
