Through out this work some of the names of the children are
twice in a family group with difference birth date. We can assume that the
younger one died and the parents used the same name again. Another theory is
that the person who did the research found the same person in different records
and estimated their birthday in different year.
This genealogy is an accurate as those books, reports,
records where they were found. There has been a lot of work done on this family
by different descendants. Some notes and dates were taken from the CD's of the
Family Tree Maker. We can see parents having children at an old age. In a lot of
cases the dates are questionable.
Most of these family descendants come from the children of
Christopher Reynolds.

The children of Christopher Reynolds, born 1530, were taken
from a Descendancy Chart at the LDS, FHC.
Christopher, is the first known of the family. He married
and settled in London where he and his sons engaged in trade and commerce. (From
Rennolds-Reynolds Family Roster, also add that in addition to the many official
sources of information that have been consulted in the computation of the
Reynolds Family, much assistance was graciously given by the late Mrs. A.C.
Rippier who served so many years as the Secretary of the Reynolds Family
Association. The names of the children of Christopher and that of his wife are

Notes for WILLIAM REYNOLDS:
William Reynolds, was the immigrant ancestor, who settled
in Providence, RI. In 1637 he and others were to pay two shillings six pence
apiece for ground that they had granted to them, about August 20, 1637, he and
twelve others signed a compact that reads like this:"We whose names are
hereunder, desirous to inhabit in the town of Providence, do promise to subject
ourselves in active and passive obedience to all such orders or agreements as
shall be made for public good to the body in an orderly way, by the major
consent of the present inhabitants, masters of families, incorporated together
in Town fellowship, and others whom they admit unto them only in civil
things."He was one of thirty nine who signed an agreement for a form of
government on July 27, 1640. On November 17, 1641, he with twelve others
complained in a letter to Massachusetts of the "insolent and riotous
carriage of Samuel Gorton and his company," and therefore the petitioners
desired Massachusetts to "lend us a neighbor like helping hands,"etc.
On January 30, 1644, he was one of the Providence settlers who testified as to
the outrage on Warwick settlers by Massachusetts. On January 27, 1645, he sold
to Robert Williams all his houses and home share and three small pieces of
meadow, and on the same date he sold to William field a share of six acres on
Fox's Hill. On April 27, 1646, he sold to Thomas Lawton his valley of eighty
acres, and three acres of meadows.

He had severals daughter that are not listed in the
Rennolds-Reynolds Family Roster.
He settled Sussex County, England where he became head of a
vast shipping and commerce business. This business had branches in Virginia,
what is now the New England States, and Bermuda. It is legend with this branch
of the family that Richard Reynolds died in York County. But as to whether York
County, Virginia, or York county, England, we do not know. (From the Rennold-Reynolds
Family Roster).

Families Genealogical and Memorial, Volume 1.( The part concerning his children
are found in the More About.... of each children information page.)
First, it mention his name, his father name, place of
residence and the death year. The second line reads that on May 13, 1665, he
signed the petition for land in Kings Province, and on May 20, 1671, he took the
oath of allegiance. He served as constable in 1671, overseer of the poor in
1687, grand juryman in 1688, conservator of the peace in 1690. On May 2, 1677,
he was one of those who petitioned the assembly for instruction, assisstance and
advice, as to the oppressions they suffered from Connecticut, and on May 24,
1677, he and the others who had been taken to Hartford ad prisoners, received
the following from the Rhode Island authorities in a letter: "That you
might receive all suitable encouragement that as you continue true to your
engagement to this colony and upon that account are kept prisoners, we shall
equally bear your charges of imprisonment, and with all expedition address
ourselves to his Majesty for relief." On July 29, 1679, his name was on the
petition to the King for an end to the troubles between the two colonies.

On September 21, 1700, probably after James's
death, a declaration was made by John Sweet that James Reynolds Sr. made

negro girl Betty, but that afterwards he gave Betty freedom when she
should be thirty years of age, and to this John Sweet and his wife
consented.

Thomas had a twin. In the descendancy chart from the LDS
list more children for Thomas and Mary but their birhday is questianable. In
this report the mother, according with the children's birthday, was over 60 and
even over 77 years old.
He settled Isle of Wight County, Virginia with his brother
Christopher Reynolds. Circa 1637 Thomas Reynolds and his family were settled on
the Rapidan River in Virginia.

Bristol, RI, and died 1795. He married ELIZABETH TURNER November 03, 1748 in
North Bridgewater.
Notes for THOMAS REYNOLDS:
He served in the revolution, enlisting from Bristol,
November 30, 1779, under Colonel Henry Jackson, and is described as aged
forty-two, height six feet one inch, complexion dark, hair dark. His age was
much understated, a practice common upon enlistment. He served in Colonel
Jackson's company from January 1, to December 31, 1780, being absent in May of
that year on account of illness. He was at "Hutt's" January 28, 1781.
On December 5, 1777, when he was engaged in the war, his family was reported as
living in Wrentham. In the revolutionary rolls he was called of Bristol and
Rehoboth, but he may not have lived at the latter place. A Thomas Reynolds, of
Deerield, perhaps this same Thomas, served in Captain Lemuel Trescott's company,
Colonel Trescott's regiment, in 1775. The only Thomas REynolds in the state in
1790 was Thomas, of North Bridgewater, and his son Thomas, of that place, who
are included in the census of that year. Thomas Reynolds was a carpenter by

line, came to America with roger Williams in the ship "Lion",
remained with him in Salem, Mass., from 1631 to 1635, during the time
Rhode Island's founder was undergoing persecution, and was one of the
five followers to come with him to Providence, in the year 1636. At the
time of the distribution of house lots, on what is now North Main
Street, Thomas angell was one of the 54 who were allotted six acres, and
secured Lot No. 2, where the historic First Baptist Meeting House now
stands at the corner of North Main and Waterman Streets, Pro., R. I.

There is a note in the report that reads: The story as told
to me by my father was that Charles Henry Reynolds disappeared soon after his
son was born and never again heard from.
After his wife died in 1872, the boy, Charles Thomas, was
adopted by his grandmother, Eleanor Crosbie, who was then a widow, and his name
was changed to Charles T. W. Crosbie. I saw him once when I was a small boy, but
have never come across anyone of this name nor any record of same.
So, this probably ends this line. At any rate, the name is
no longer Reynolds.

Report Of Physical Examination of Recruits for RING he is described as having
hair lt. brown, eyes blue, complexion light, height 5ft 8 inc. Weight 135 lbs.
He retired from the Rhode Island Hospital Trust Co., now
the Rhode Island Hospital Trust National Bank, in 1958. He was an Army veteran
of three wars. He served in the Mexican Border War of 1916. During World War I
he served with the Yankee Division in France. In World War II, with the rank of
major, he served with the 48th Evacuation Rhode Island Hospital Unit in India
and Burma.
